Private Shooting Range

The Shiawassee Conservation Association has an outdoor firearms shooting range that is open to members, their spouses/significant others, and family members year-round.  To ensure safety and security, the shooting range is located in a fenced-in area and members are provided with the combination to the lock upon joining or renewing their membership each year.

The range is open 7 days a week from 10:00am until dusk.  Members are asked to sign the logbook which is located in the information / bulletin board area of the shooting house.

All caliber firearms are permitted including muzzleloaders, however no fully automatic guns of any kind are allowed on the range.  Paper targets and a staple gun are generally available on site.  We do ask for donations to help keep the range stocked with supplies.  Buckets are provided for disposal of brass and spent shell casings.  We ask that you leave the range as clean as you found it.

Again, no shooting before 10:00am, please.

Our rifle range has three stationary targets; they are positioned at 50-yards, 100-yards, and 175-yards. If you want to shoot targets closer than 50 yards, the pistol range is available and has a cable-mounted adjustable target with a maximum range of 25 yards.

All caliber firearms are permitted however, any full-automatic firearms are prohibited.

Trap Shooting

Come out and take advantage of our trap shooting facilities and make some new friends in the process.

The trap field is open to the public every Sunday at 10:00am and will remain open until everyone is through shooting.

On Sundays and Wednesday evenings, when the trap field is "officially" open, our auto-throwers will be in use and the trap house will be open.  For $5 (members), and $6 (non-members) you will get 25 clay birds thrown by our auto-throwers.

If you can't make it out on Sundays or Wednesday evenings, or if you just want to shoot on your own, the field is open the rest of the week from 10:00am until dusk for those members who have their own thrower, clays, and shells.

Please note:  If you do not have a gun of your own, don't let that stop you from coming out and joining us.  SCA has both 12-gauge and 20-gauge shotguns available for our members to use when the trap house is open.
